Himatangi Beach
where the land meets the seakia ora and welcome
the who, where, what
We are a small village situated on the west coast of the north island of New Zealand. We have approximately 500 permanent residents, and our village is around 45 years young.
WHat to do with your time
Whether you have come for the day, a week or to live, there are lots of things to keep you entertained. Just to name a few, the playground, BMX track, skate park, basket ball hoop, tennis court, public BBQ, bowling club, surf club, fitness groups, book club, church, the list goes on.
Weather
We have our own micro climate out here at the beach, so never believe the weather reports. It can get wild and windy in the autumn and spring, we can have frosts at the beach in winter. And summer brings endless warm days. You can check out the Horizons webcam.
Our beach
The ocean can be as flat as a lake or as rough as they get. Keep an eye out for rips. The surf life savers are around during the summer months.
Our beach is a road. Please respect the road rules when driving on the beach and keep an eye out for pedestrians. Always check the sand and creek before driving onto it, we advise 4WD only.
