Chair extended a welcome to Aaron Madden and Grant Davis and invited them to speak to those present on the best way to remove Yucca’s from the district. Aaron reported that Yuccas have spread from Waikanae up the coastline to Himatangi Beach. He is the Biodiversity Co-ordinator for Horizons and is looking for our community’s support to get rid of them for good. Grant Davis is a Horticulture Teacher from Feilding and he spoke on his experiences when attempting to kill the plants. The community will research this matter and look at obtaining the necessary equipment to purge these plants, along with Acacia, from the beach front and within the village. Members of the community to be educated on the importance of removal of these plants from their sections Chair thanked Aaron and Grant for taking the time to speak to us on the subject.
